Driving Scares “-“

Hello Everyone,

I’ve been rather busy these past few weeks. Dealing with high school, the homework, my actual work, family, and to top it off, some anxiety (sniffles). However I’ve been dealing with it the best I can, and reading + writing some blogs really helps calm my nerves. Seeing everyone else’s lives and how happy they are really put a smile on my face! I’m the type of person who basically feeds off others happiness, so I myself can be happy. That’s why I enjoy doing good things, It sends a jolt through my body that reminds me “Hey you!! You’re an awesome human being”.

But recently my inner voice has been saying “Hey you!! Stop procrastinating, leave that to the professionals. And by the way, you have to take your beginners!”.

Yes everyone, this 18-year-old still doesn’t have her beginners. Let alone her driver’s license.

Trust me when I say this, it’s really not a bad thing to not have your beginners. It just means that you’re only limited to taking the bus more often. But now that I’ve reached the start of adulthood, and that my high school years are coming to an end, I think it’s time for me to stop being a wuss (puts on cool shades…trips 2 seconds later)……. This is what I think would happen if I began driving.

Let me set the scene for you!

This is how I imagine myself driving. Picture a warm sunny day, the weather is just perfect to go to the beach or to the mall. Along the street lines people chatting, children playing and street vendors are selling food. You see a car drive gracefully down the road, most likely playing some opera. It comes to a complete stop at a stop sign, and then… You’ll probably see me 3 cars behind just completely wrecking everything in sight!😅

I would probably have a driving coach with me, he/she would most likely be completely exasperated and say,

“DO YOU EVEN KNOW HOW TO DRIVE (insert swearing here😳)!?!”.

My response… “Have you seen me play Mario Kart before. I’m pretty good at it. Thought driving a car would be the same concept😆”.

Maybe the reason I’m so scared of driving is the worry of screwing up all the time. I have so much fear in knowing that anything could go wrong at any given moment, and it’s well…frightening, to say the least. I don’t think I have what it takes to become a proper driver.

I’m happy to know that my parents are supportive and that some of my friends are willing to quiz me. As well as share their experience when they took their written test. I appreciate that it’s okay to be nervous or to fail the first time, many people have. Yet they were able to get through it in the end.

I’ll be proud when I pass the written test, it will be an accomplishment! Doing so will fill me with determination to continue practicing for the real driving test. Hopefully, by that point, I’ll be much stronger, and push forward even if I don’t pass the first time!

So until I write that test, please let me know in the comments

How do you control your nerves when taking a test or driving around, got any tips or suggestions that can make people feel more comfortable when it comes to these types of things?

Please feel free to share what you have in mind down in the comments below. Not only would you be helping me out, but many others who are also having difficulty with this. I’m sure we would all appreciate some words from the wise (or experienced, both work equally😁). Hope you guys enjoyed today’s little rant, it’s something I thought would give to the message that it’s okay to be scared or frightened. Just remember to work through it slowly, take your time to think. And when your ready, I’ll be there holding the keys.

I still think my Mario Kart skills are a million times better though, but you can’t blame a gamer girl for being that way😅

Talk with you all soon xoxo

I’m currently 16 years old so I’ve been going for my learners. I was actually really scared when I got in the car for the first time but now I’m quite a confident driver. I think the best thing you can do in the beginning is practice driving where no to little people will be. Also go driving with someone who is very relaxed and won’t get easily stressed as this will really help to build your confidence! I’m obviously not a pro by any means but these are some of the things that I’ve found to help me over the past nine months of driving. Hope this was helpful?!? 😉
